Beyond the Veil: Sedona's Costume Ecstatic Dance, and How to Get Ready for It
On October 25 the women of Möonbabe Records lead an extended ecstatic dance at humankind: a workshop at 4, the dance from 6 to 11, costumes encouraged.
▶ Get ticketsOnce a year the dance floor gets to dress up. On Sunday, October 25, humankind hosts Beyond the Veil, an extended ecstatic dance led by the women of Möonbabe Records, with ceremony, live music, sound healing, and a room full of costumes. If you have danced with EIR in Sedona, you already know the shape of the night. This one is longer, and it has company.

How Does the Night Flow?
It starts before the music. From 4 to 5 PM there is a workshop, an hour to arrive, settle and set an intention. The dance opens at 6 PM with Siren Gliss on electric harp: a soft, strange, beautiful way to begin moving. EIR builds the wave with conscious house, live vocals and keys, and Heather Christie, who founded Möonbabe Records, carries it to its peak and home with ritual deep house. The night closes at 11 PM.

What Should I Wear?
The invitation is to come as the self that lives on the other side of the veil: mystical, celestial, enchanted, supernatural. A flowing layer, a veil, face paint, wings, a crown of something. Choose things you can dance in for five hours, and shoes you can take off. Costumes are encouraged, never required; come exactly as you are and you will fit right in.
Is It a Real Ecstatic Dance?
Yes. It is alcohol- and drug-free, the floor is for free movement, and the usual agreements hold: no talking on the floor, consent before contact, and room for everyone's way of moving. The difference is the length, the live musicians, and the ceremony around it.

How Does It End?
With stillness. EIR is known for closing her sets on twelve crystal bowls, so plan to lie down on the floor you just danced on.
